On Christmas Day, the NBA knows how to deliver. The league routinely provides fans with some tantalizing matchups on the holiday, knowing most fans are sitting at home relaxing after spending quality time with their friends and family.
So it should come as no surprise that the league once again delivered a fantastic slate during the 2026-27 NBA season.
It all starts at noon ET, when fans will be treated to last year’s NBA Finals matchup. For the first time since Game 5, the New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs will go head-to-head, kicking off the Christmas Day action.
All the action will air on ABC and ESPN.
The NBA will feature five games on Christmas Day (Friday, Dec. 25) for the 19th consecutive year, with ABC and ESPN both televising each matchup.

Knicks vs. Spurs will be followed by the Miami Heat and the Boston Celtics at 2:30 p.m. ET. Both teams were thought to be strong contenders for Giannis Antetokounmpo this offseason, but the Heat won that battle.
Later in the day, LeBron James and the Philadelphia 76ers will travel to California to take on the Los Angeles Lakers, James’ former club. That contest starts at 5:00 p.m. ET. It will mark the second major nationally televised game announced for the 76ers on Tuesday, as the team will also play on opening night.
James spent his previous eight seasons with the Lakers, where he helped lead the team to another championship. With questions swirling about his future this offseason, James confirmed he would return for one more year, but with one significant caveat: It wouldn’t be with the Lakers. Will James be embraced by Lakers fans when he returns, or will they hold that decision against him?
After that, it’s the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Minnesota Timberwolves at 8 p.m. ET. The two teams have some history after the Thunder took down Minnesota in the Western Conference finals during the 2024-25 NBA season. The Thunder then went on to win the championship in the next series.
The two teams did not meet during the 2025-26 playoffs, though they did split four regular-season games last year. That should ensure another excellent game on Christmas Day.
The Denver Nuggets vs. the Golden State Warriors will close out the holiday slate, with the contest starting at 10:30 p.m. ET. The game should feature plenty of star power, as Nikola Jokic will take on Stephen Curry and crew. The two teams played four times last season, including on opening night. They split the series 2-2.
