The fifth installment of the popular franchise hit the theaters on June 19, 2026. The animated comedy adventure starring Bad Bunny and Tom Hanks turned out to be an emotional sequel. While the film received a 93% rating on the Tomatometer, a recent revelation about a deleted scene hints at a missed reunion between Jessie and Emily.
Disney Pixar’s film was directed by Andrew Stanton and co-directed by Kenna Harris. In the initial draft of the script, the filmmakers wanted to address how Jessie confronted her past. The first owner of Jessie was Emily, who gave her away to a charity. The deleted scene was revealed during an exclusive with Entertainment Weekly. The encounter took place years later, when Emily has grown up to be a grandmother. Jessie, Bullseye, and the group of Buzz Lightyear toys spot old Emily in the backyard playing with her grandchild.
Harris revealed about the behind-the-scenes clip, “We love Jessie and from the beginning we always wanted to make sure she had a very satisfying catharsis at the end of this film.” The storyboard artist further added, “Jessie deserves closure on her past.”
In the deleted scene, Jessie was skeptical about meeting older Emily. But Bullseye’s actions finally led Emily to spot Jessie, introducing her grandchild to the cowgirl doll.
