Leicester City are actively seeking new owners, with the club’s long-serving Thai owners, King Power looking to sell after 16 years in charge.
An investment prospectus prepared by Citigroup has been circulated to potential buyers, outlining the sale of Leicester, the club’s women’s team and Belgian sister club OH Leuven, along with major assets including the King Power Stadium and the Seagrave training ground.
The document values Leicester’s physical assets at more than £200 million, with the state-of-the-art Seagrave complex alone estimated to be worth £121m.
The brochure highlights Leicester’s remarkable achievements under King Power, including their historic Premier League triumph in 2016 and FA Cup success in 2021, describing the opportunity as the chance to acquire a club with a proven record of success and promotion.
However, there is no mention of the Foxes’ current status in League One following consecutive relegations from the Premier League and Championship.
Financial projections included in the sales material forecast turnover of more than £97m for the 2026 financial year, although previous financial losses and debts, including more than £100m in bank loans disclosed in the club’s most recent accounts, are not referenced.
Leicester have recorded losses exceeding £180m during a turbulent period that saw them bounce between the Premier League and Championship before slipping into the third tier.
King Power purchased Leicester from Milan Mandaric for £35m in 2010, overseeing the most successful spell in the club’s history.
Srivaddhanaprabha era ending
Current chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha took over following the death of his father, Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, in the helicopter crash outside the King Power Stadium in 2018.
Reports first emerged in July that the family were exploring a sale, but the circulation of the sales brochure marks the clearest indication yet that they are actively seeking new investment.
The decision comes after a difficult period both on and off the pitch. Leicester’s relegation to League One prompted protests from supporters, many of whom called for a change of ownership, while King Power’s duty-free business has also faced financial challenges in Thailand.
Despite the club’s decline, Leicester are being marketed as one of only five English clubs to have won the Premier League, FA Cup and League Cup since 2000.
The prospectus also points to the strength of the club’s academy, highlighting its track record of developing players and generating transfer income.
One recent example is Jeremy Monga, who joined Manchester City in a £10m deal earlier this summer.
