Charles Melton recently addressed the persistent rumors linking him to Marvel’s X-Men franchise in an interview with The Playlist. The actor spoke about the speculation while promoting his Emmy-nominated turn in Beef Season 2.
Melton shared his excitement about potentially reuniting with Beef creator Lee Sung Jin and director Jake Schreier. Both filmmakers are attached to Marvel’s upcoming X-Men film. Melton told The Playlist he actively tries to avoid reading online chatter about the casting rumors.
“I try to stay away from the fodder as much as I can,” Melton said. He humorously admitted to monitoring his own online presence quite frequently. “So I’ve limited myself to Googling myself maybe 20 times a day instead of 50,” he added while laughing.
The actor acknowledged that the D23 Convention in Anaheim could potentially deliver a significant X-Men cast reveal. Speculation suggests organizers may officially introduce Melton as part of the new ensemble there. However, he did not directly confirm any involvement with the Marvel project.
“Whenever people are talking about you in a very maybe positive, hopeful way, I think it’s exciting,” Melton shared. He described the possibility of collaborating with Schreier and Lee Sung Jin again as something extraordinary. “It’d be amazing to work with them again,” he noted, highlighting his strong belief in both creatives.
Melton currently holds two Emmy nominations for Beef Season 2 on Netflix. He earned a nod in the Outstanding Supporting Actor category and received recognition as an executive producer. The season secured 16 total Emmy nominations this cycle.
His breakout role arrived three years ago in Todd Haynes’ May December, which transformed him into a respected dramatic talent. That performance moved him well beyond his earlier Riverdale reputation in the industry.
