Cadillac has taken its already outrageous CELESTIQ and given it a seriously sinister makeover, creating a one-of-one commission that looks like it belongs in a billionaire’s secret garage called Night Test.
The Cadillac CELESTIQ Night Test was unveiled during Monterey Car Week as a darker, more understated take on the brand’s hand-built electric flagship.
With its deep Caspia Tricoat Metallic finish, dark wheels and carefully chosen interior, this is a CELESTIQ designed to keep things menacing.
And beneath all that stealthy styling is a 655-horsepower electric powertrain.
The Cadillac CELESTIQ Night Test goes dark for Monterey
The inspiration behind the CELESTIQ Night Test supercar is actually pretty cool.
Cadillac says the one-off was inspired by the quiet hours when athletes, musicians and other performers work away from the spotlight, putting in the effort needed to perfect their craft.
That idea has been translated into a CELESTIQ that deliberately avoids the usual flashy ultra-luxury treatment.
The exterior is finished in Caspia Tricoat Metallic, a deep blue shade that gives the enormous electric liftback a much more mysterious appearance.
The 23-inch wheels have a dark finish, while the front lighting gets a Jade-finish bezel that Cadillac says diffuses light rather than reflecting it.
It is a subtle change, but it completely alters the personality of the car.
The CELESTIQ is already a seriously imposing machine, measuring more than 18 feet long, but the Night Test’s darker treatment makes it look like it would be much happier arriving somewhere after midnight than pulling up outside a five-star hotel in broad daylight.
The same philosophy continues inside.
Cadillac has fitted Backen Black and Sheer Gray leather, alongside carbon-fiber accents and brushed-metal details.
Rather than covering the cabin in bright colors and extravagant patterns, the Night Test goes for something closer to a car you would imagine an evil villain keeps in their lair.
This 1-of-1 commission still packs a punch
Of course, the Night Test might look restrained, but there is nothing particularly restrained about what sits underneath it.
The CELESTIQ uses a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive electric powertrain producing 655 horsepower, with enough performance to propel the roughly 6,800-pound luxury car from 0 to 60 mph in around 3.5 seconds.
It also gets adaptive air suspension and rear-wheel steering, helping make the enormous Cadillac considerably more manageable when the road starts getting interesting.
And then there is the price.
The CELESTIQ starts in the region of $365,000, before customers start going wild with the customization options.
Every example is hand-assembled at Cadillac’s Artisan Center in Warren, Michigan, and the company effectively treats each car as its own bespoke commission.
That makes the Night Test particularly interesting because it isn’t a traditional special edition with a production run and a numbered badge.
It is a genuine one-of-one creation built around a specific design vision.
It was unveiled at The Quail during Monterey Car Week, where it joined some of the world’s most exclusive cars.
And while the CELESTIQ might have the power and presence of a super-luxury showstopper, the Night Test proves that sometimes the coolest way to stand out is to deliberately blend in.
