Star Wars fans looking forward to new stories from a galaxy far, far away won’t have to wait long. Lucasfilm Publishing has confirmed that it will unveil fresh project announcements and reveals later this October during New York Comic Con.
The publisher has not provided details of the projects it will announce. Instead, the current description for its NYCC panel teases “behind-the-scenes insights, stories across several eras and frontiers,” and announcements. These announcements will specifically be of interest to fans of Star Wars books and comics.
Lucasfilm Publishing teases upcoming Star Wars saga
With Star Wars being one shared continuity, any new books or comics will inevitably tie into future Star Wars films and TV shows. Most recently, a Star Wars book hinted at major changes to the lore, drastically altering how fans perceive Rey Skywalker’s story.
Following San Diego Comic-Con, Lucasfilm also announced several new books set in the same universe. Star Wars will also feature in a new crossover with the Marvel universe, a first for both franchises, in a new comic series next year.
On the theatrical front, Lucasfilm is re-releasing a restored version of the original 1977 film Star Wars: A New Hope in theaters ahead of the franchise’s return to the big screen with Star Wars: Starfighter, starring Ryan Gosling, slated for May 28, 2027. Meanwhile, Star Wars: New Jedi Order, set 15 years after the events of The Rise of Skywalker, remains in active development.
Later this month, Electronic Arts will release Star Wars: Zero Company, the franchise’s first turn-based squad tactics game set during the Clone Wars era. Beyond that, there are several Star Wars projects that have been in different stages of development, with most being on hold for now.
Lucasfilm Publishing’s New York Comic Con panel will take place on Friday, October 9, 2026.
