Seth Rogen and Amber Heard’s Pineapple Express is heading to streaming, bringing the 2008 R-rated comedy to a new audience. The film centers on a process server and his marijuana dealer, who find themselves pursued after witnessing a murder. Directed by David Gordon Green, Pineapple Express earned generally positive reviews and was a commercial success.
Pineapple Express to stream on Hulu next month
Seth Rogen and Amber Heard’s Pineapple Express is set to arrive on Hulu next month. According to Hulu Press, the R-rated comedy will be available to stream on the platform starting September 1, 2026.
David Gordon Green directed Pineapple Express, which was released on August 8, 2008. The action comedy follows Dale Denton, a process server whose ordinary routine changes after he witnesses a murder committed by a corrupt police officer and a drug lord. Dale leaves behind a sample of Pineapple Express, a rare strain of marijuana he recently purchased from his dealer, Saul Silver.
Dale goes to Saul for help after realizing the marijuana may be identifiable. Still, the situation quickly escalates when the two discover that the people behind the murder are actively looking for them. The two are forced to stay ahead of the criminals as they try to escape the dangerous situation they have become involved in.
Seth Rogen stars as Dale Denton, with James Franco as Saul Silver and Danny McBride as Red. The cast also includes Gary Cole as Ted Jones, Kevin Corrigan as Budlofsky, and Amber Heard as Angie Anderson.
Pineapple Express received generally positive reviews from critics. Rotten Tomatoes gives the film a 68 percent critics’ rating based on 199 reviews, while its audience score stands at 73 percent. According to Box Office Mojo, the action comedy earned approximately $102 million worldwide. Its total includes more than $87 million from domestic theaters and about $14 million from international markets.
