Track by Track is our recurring feature in which artists take readers inside the making of their latest releases. Here, Tiny Habits break down each song on their new album,Keepers.
Since forming in Boston, Tiny Habits have built a devoted following around their signature three-part harmonies and intimate approach to songwriting. Now, the trio of Cinya Khan, Maya Rae, and Judah Mayowa are entering a new era with Keepers,their latest album and most expansive work to date. Across 12 tracks, the band reckons with love, friendship, family, and the growing pains of chasing a life in music.
The album finds the trio drawing from experiences they’ve shared and those they’ve faces separately, ultimately reflecting who they’ve become as individuals, bandmates, and, as they put it, family. Written and recorded across different studios and spaces — including living rooms, a shower at a hockey arena, and a farm in upstate New York — the trio ultimately finished the record at home, surrounded by each other and their closest friends.

While Tiny Habits have long been associated with folk roots and a stripped-back sound, the album’s singles suggest a more restless palette. There’s an easygoing indie-pop current running through “Right in Front of Me,” an earthy pull from “Anything He Was,” and a sultrier R&B-leaning edge to “Belt Loop.” These are just a few glimpses of Keepers, but they show Tiny Habits opening new doors and coloring outside the lines.
