The Angry Birds Movie 2 finds an audience on Netflix
The Angry Birds Movie 2 currently sits at No. 4 on Netflix’s Top 10 Kids Movies chart in the United States, according to FlixPatrol data from August 31, 2026. The 2019 animated sequel has held a spot on the chart for four consecutive days. It also ranks at No. 4 on Netflix’s overall Top 10 Movies list.
Thurop Van Orman directed the film, which Sony Pictures Animation and Rovio Entertainment produced. The movie features Jason Sudeikis, Josh Gad, Leslie Jones, Bill Hader, and Rachel Bloom among its voice cast. Peter Ackerman, Eyal Podell, and Jonathon E. Stewart wrote the screenplay based on the Angry Birds video game series.
The film follows Red and the birds as they team up with Leonard and the pigs. Together, they must stop Zeta, the leader of Eagle Island, from destroying both their homes. The creative team deliberately broke from the games’ source material for the sequel’s storyline.
The sequel earned $152.8 million worldwide against a $65 million budget during its theatrical run.Rotten Tomatoes shows 72% of 108 critics gave positive reviews, with a 5.7/10 average rating.Metacritic assigned the film a score of 60 out of 100 based on 23 critics. At the time of its release, it held the title of best-reviewed video game film adaptation on Rotten Tomatoes.
The film’s renewed visibility on Netflix arrives ahead of The Angry Birds Movie 3. Paramount Pictures picked up distribution rights for the third installment, set for December 23, 2026. Jason Sudeikis and Josh Gad will reprise their roles as Red and Chuck, respectively. Emma Myers, Keke Palmer, Lily James, and Tim Robinson join the cast for the sequel. John Rice directs the third film, with Thurop Van Orman writing the screenplay.
