Spider-Man: Brand New Day‘s superb box office run will finally end. Following an impressive summer, the Destin Daniel Cretton-directed project is likely to make way for Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock‘s upcoming feature.
According to an update from Variety, Practical Magic 2 is expected to garner somewhere between $30 million and $40 million in its domestic debut in 4000 theaters across North America. These numbers will be enough to topple Marvel’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s six-week box-office reign.
The movie is also projected to earn an additional $18 to $25 million from its international run across 77 territories. This means that Practical Magic 2’s initial worldwide sales are projected between $48 million and $65 million. The movie had a production budget of $75 million. Spider-Man: Brand New Day had an opening weekend collection of $360,091,572, per The Numbers.
Nicole Kidman & Sandra Bullock return for Practical Magic 2
The sequel to Practical Magic (1998) is about the witch sisters, Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock, returning to reprise their roles as Gillian Owen and Sally Owen, respectively. In the 1998 film, the sisters fight a generational family curse. Practical Magic 2’s plot unfolds 25 years later and focuses on Sally and Gillian’s daughters and how they figure out their lives after unraveling their family secrets.
The synopsis of the supernatural fantasy, per IMDb, reads, “A multi generational family of witches, cursed to be loveless for centuries, attempts to break the spell by confronting dark secrets and sacrificing for each other.”
Alongside Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman, the cast for the Susanne Bier-directed film features Dianne Wiest, Joey King, Stockard Channing, Amy Bowden, Aimée Cassettari, Scarlett Nasrat, Harriett Scott, Lee Pace, Maisie Williams, and others.
Alongside playing the roles of Sally and Gillian Owens, Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman are also producing the film. Denise Di Novi is also contributing as one of the producers.
Practical Magic 2 is scheduled to hit the theaters on September 18, 2026.
