Hansi Flick hailed the collective mentality of his Barcelona side, insisting he is “really enjoying” life in the dugout as the Blaugrana continued their flawless start to the season with a 5-1 thrashing of Feyenoord.
The German coach has overseen five consecutive victories across all competitions to open the 2026–27 campaign, with Barca already racking up 21 goals in that span.
After the latest Champions League rout at Camp Nou, Flick made no secret of his happiness with how quickly his squad have adopted his intense tactical blueprint.
‘I’m really happy to be here’
“I’m really pleased that all I can talk about is enjoying myself,” Flick said. “I am the coach of Barça, and I’m truly happy to be here.
“In our first five games we have done really well. We’ve scored a lot of goals, but for me, the most important thing is that we are playing as a team, as a unit. We dominate and control games. That’s the style we want to play; we want our supporters to enjoy our football, and right now they are really enjoying it.”
Barca set the tone inside three minutes when captain Raphinha sidestepped two defenders in the area to lash home his seventh goal of the campaign.
Summer arrival Karim Adeyemi, stepping into the starting lineup for Anthony Gordon, quickly doubled the lead with a sensational 20-yard curler into the corner. Raphinha grabbed his second after the interval courtesy of a pinpoint through ball from Pedri, before Lamine Yamal’s dipping free-kick crept through the Feyenoord wall.
Deadline-day signing Gabriel Jesus then rounded off the five-star display, nodding home his first goal for the club just two minutes after coming off the bench.
‘The mentality of this team is incredible’
The high-pressing style and seamless squad rotation drew special praise from Flick, who pointed to the relentless work ethic running through the squad.
“The mentality of this team is incredible,” Flick added. “We have controlled games and dominated possession at a very high level. We are training really hard and it is very demanding, but everyone has that hunger to improve and be better.
“For our philosophy, intensity is everything. When we lose the ball, the distances between our players are short, which allows us to counter-press immediately. What pleases me most is seeing everyone committed in both attack and defence.”
