Sydney Malakeh, who plays Sydney DiMera, debuted on Days of Our Lives on September 10. In a recent interview, she shared more details about her character. Moreover, she revealed her experience during her first week on set and how the makers and cast members helped her stay grounded and ease her sense of overwhelm.

In a conversation with TV Insider, Sydney Malakeh described Sydney DiMera’s personality, stating that she has traits from both of her complicated parents, EJ and Sami. She said, “Sydney’s a strong girl. She wants to forge her own path. She’s a leader. She has a big, big heart, and she wants to do good, and she wants to be loved. It’s been super fun to get to find her myself through the scripts.” She also expressed enthusiasm for the direction the character’s story will take after the debut.
Malakeh claimed that the first week on the set was quite overwhelming for her. She said that she had a lot of anxiety that she wasn’t doing a good job and might get fired. Therefore, she reached out to the producer and asked him to conduct a performance review meeting for her. The producer ultimately assured her that there was no problem with her work and that she was performing the way Sydney should.
“So that was really nice to hear, but it was truly humbling. I don’t think I would have been able to do this years ago. I have so much respect for actors and soap actors, and my respect for Days actors specifically has grown exponentially,” Malakeh added.
Sydney DiMera was introduced in 2009 and was initially played by several twins. Over the years, several actresses have taken over the role, with the most recent one being Evelyn Stephenson. She played the role in the 2021 spinoff movieDays of Our Lives: A Very Salem Christmas.
