Conor Benn is seeking to pull off a major upset and capture Ryan Garcia’s WBC welterweight world title on Saturday, and former undisputed super-lightweight ruler Josh Taylor has offered his final prediction for the fight.
Benn has not fought as a welterweight in over four years and has already revealed that this will be his final appearance at 147lbs, after reportedly enduring a difficult weight cut in order to make the limit, having twice fought as a middleweight last year.
Meanwhile, Garcia defeated Mario Barrios to get his hands on the WBC belt in an impressive showing back in February, dropping ‘El Azteca’ early in the contest and then cruising to a unanimous-decision triumph.
In his first bout as a world champion, ‘King Ry’ is hoping to make a statement against Benn and successfully defend his title in order to tee up unification showdowns with fellow champions, Teofimo Lopez (WBA) and Devin Haney (WBO).
On X, Taylor, who was linked to a clash with Benn before his retirement last year, believes that Garcia will stop Benn inside six rounds if he is on his game and that the American will still come out victorious on the cards, even if he is not 100% on the night.
