Thomas Jane has caught Marvel fans’ attention with his latest post on X. The actor shared a new photo showing off his intense physical look. The post has now sparked speculation about what Jane could be preparing for.
Fans quickly connected the photo to Jane’s past role as the Punisher. @MotherBrain830 asked, “Is he… suiting up???” @Livelaughmma wrote, “Punisher secret wars ?.” Meanwhile, @ebsmith82 asked, “Training for something sir?” @ChaseTayIor was even more direct, writing, “Holy sh*t he’s coming back for Secret Wars isn’t he??!!!”
Jane’s post does not mention the Punisher, Marvel, or Secret Wars. However, the speculation comes at an interesting time for the MCU. Avengers: Secret Wars could explore the multiverse and bring back characters from earlier Marvel films.
The Punisher has been played by several actors since Jane’s 2004 debut
Jane first played Frank Castle in 2004’s The Punisher. The film follows Castle as he seeks revenge after losing his family. His performance established his version of the character on the big screen.
Ray Stevenson later portrayed the Punisher in 2008’s Punisher: War Zone. Jon Bernthal eventually took over the role in the MCU, first appearing as Frank Castle in Daredevil. He later starred in The Punisher and reprised the character in other Marvel projects.
Jane has also returned to the role outside the main franchise. He reprised Frank Castle in the 2012 short film Dirty Laundry, which also featured Ron Perlman. That return showed that he was willing to revisit the character after his original movie. More than a decade later, his latest X post has once again made fans wonder if he could step back into the iconic skull vest.
For now, however, the actor’s involvement in Avengers: Secret Wars remains unconfirmed. His new look may simply be unrelated to Marvel, but fans are hoping it is a sign that his Frank Castle could return.
