Igor Jesus condemned Aston Villa to their third defeat in four Premier League games as his late strike gave Nottingham Forest a 2-1 away win, their first triumph under Oliver Glasner.

After a goalless first half, the game burst into life quickly after the second-half restart when Liam Delap broke the deadlock with his first goal for Forest, beating Zion Suzuki by finding the bottom-left corner from 20 yards out.

Dan Ndoye headed over from close range as he wasted a clear chance to make it 2-0, and Delap had the ball in the net again, only to see that effort ruled out for offside.

It looked as if Forest would live to rue those missed opportunities when Alysson scored Villa’s first league goal of the season by nodding in from John McGinn’s cross.

But there was a sting in the tail in the 88th minute with Villa down to 10 after Ian Maatsen limped off with the hosts having made all of their five substitutions.

Morgan Gibbs-White flicked a Daniel Munoz cutback into the path of Jesus, who steered home from six yards out to seal the points.

Villa are second-bottom with just one point from four games, while Forest are in a quartet of teams on five points.

Flemming the hero as Ipswich win thriller

While Hull City made more headlines by maintaining their remarkable unbeaten start with a 2-2 draw at Chelsea, their fellow newly promoted side Ipswich Town moved into the top half by emerging victorious from an incredible game against Crystal Palace, winning 3-2 at Selhurst Park.

Palace, who claimed their first league win of the season at Fulham last week, took the lead in the 14th minute when Anan Khalaili netted his first goal for the club, arrowing home from Daichi Kamada’s pass.

Nine minutes later Ipswich levelled as Emersonn was giving a simple header to restore parity from Leif Davis’ left-wing cross.

Palace’s problems mounted when they were reduced to 10 men as Axel Disasi saw red for a late and high tackle on Jack Clarke.

The Tractor Boys took advantage as Emersonn and Davis swapped roles, the Brazilian flicking on for the left-back to head home at the back post.

Yet Palace appeared to have rescued a share of the spoils 15 minutes from the end of normal time when Jorgen Strand Larsen fired home on the turn.

Khalaili spurned a chance for his second as Palace looked to complete the turnaround, and the Eagles paid for his profligacy as Zian Flemming tucked home on the rebound after Walter Benitez had kept out Davis’ header. Flemming’s first goal since joining from Burnley moved Ipswich up to seventh in the table.

Bournemouth let another lead slip

Bournemouth are still waiting for a first league win under Marco Rose as they let another winning position slip in a 2-2 draw with Brentford.

Kevin Schade gave Brentford the lead on the south coast by heading in from Yehor Yarmoliuk’s cross after a defensive error from Adrien Truffert.

Rayan inexplicably missed from six yards out as Bournemouth sought a leveller, which arrived through Justin Kluivert’s left-footed drive.

The Cherries completed the turnaround seven minutes into the second half when Marcus Tavernier capped off a well-worked move by slotting into the far corner.

But four minutes later Bournemouth threw the lead away, Schade restoring parity with a lob over the head of Djordje Petrovic after the goalkeeper had passed the ball straight to the winger.

Bournemouth have led in all four of their Premier League games this season without winning any of them. They are 15th with three points from four games, while an impressive start from Brentford has them fifth with six points.
