DCU fans have received a disappointing update on Superman‘s costume upgrade in Man of Tomorrow. The anticipated sequel to 2025’s Superman will bring back David Corenswet in the leading role of Kal-El/Superman.
Director James Gunn has shared some unexpected news on Corenswet’s new costume in Man of Tomorrow. On Threads, a fan asked Gunn when he could offer the first look at the updated outfit.
Without revealing any substantial detail, Gunn replied with a laughing emoji. “If I could just drop it in theaters without showing anything, I would,” he wrote.
This means that DCU fans will have to wait longer before they can actually get a proper look at Superman’s new suit.
What we know about James Gunn’s Man of Tomorrow so far
Man of Tomorrow will showcase Superman and Lex Luthor, played by Nicholas Hoult, teaming up despite their conflicts from the first movie. They will join forces to stop a bigger threat in Brainiac.
The supervillain, played by Lars Eidinger, will make his live-action debut in a DC film with Man of Tomorrow. Full plot details are still under wraps at the moment.
Superman sequel will also mark the return of other familiar faces, including Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Milly Alcock as Supergirl. She will appear in a cameo role after starring in her own solo movie earlier this year.
Other key cast members include Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, and Aaron Pierre as John Stewart. Adria Arjona is also expected to play a crucial role, but her character details have not been confirmed yet.
Additionally, Xolo Maridueña will return as Blue Beetle. He recently revealed that Gunn reached out to him by phone while he was in Japan with his friends.
Man of Tomorrow will hit theaters on July 9, 2027.
