If you thought Bwipo was settling into a quiet, undefeated retirement in Brazilian tier-two, think again. Gabriël “Bwipo” Rau made it clear that staying in the region beyond 2026 is not his main plan, and that a return to the LEC remains one of the biggest goals left in his career, according to Strafe Esports.
Speaking on the MD3 Podcast, Bwipo said he wants to retire in the LEC specifically because he has never beaten Caps for a title while the Danish superstar has been playing in Europe. He was careful not to rule out staying in Brazil either, calling the CBLOL a legitimate fallback if the LEC door stays shut and nothing else appealing comes calling.
This isn’t nostalgia talking out of nowhere. Bwipo’s last LEC appearance came back in 2021, when he switched to jungle for Fnatic and dragged the team to a second-split final, eliminating G2 Esports along the way before falling 3-1 to MAD Lions. He joined Estral for the second split of the 2026 Circuito Desafiante, and the results since then have been nothing short of ridiculous.
Nineteen Games, Zero Losses
Estral finished the Circuito Desafiante regular season 9-0, then rolled through the playoffs without dropping a single map. Add it all up and the team went 19-0 across the entire competition, capping it off with a 3-0 sweep of KaBuM! Ilha das Lendas in the September 14 Grand Final.
That kind of dominance doesn’t automatically buy a CBLOL seat, though. Estral now heads into the CBLOL 2027 Promotion Tournament, a five-team gauntlet for a single Guest Team slot, opening against 9z Globant on September 29. Even a successful promotion run wouldn’t lock in Bwipo’s own roster spot for next year.
Why Caps Is the Real Target
Strip away the roster uncertainty and the whole storyline boils down to one rivalry. Bwipo and Caps were Fnatic teammates before Caps left for G2 Esports, and beating him for an LEC crown has apparently lodged itself in Bwipo’s brain as unfinished business. That’s a fairly bold flex from a player who hasn’t set foot in Europe’s top league in half a decade, but it’s also exactly the kind of storyline the LEC’s roster market thrives on heading into an offseason.
Nothing here is confirmed. Bwipo’s own words frame the LEC as the priority and the CBLOL as the backup, not the other way around, and any actual move still depends on whether a European organization comes calling with an offer worth taking. For now it’s a storyline, not a transfer, but it’s one worth tracking as the 2026 season winds down and the offseason roster carousel starts spinning.
