A second chance to earn a UFC contract may soon be on the way for one LFA fighter.
The tenth season of Dana White’s Contender Series is well underway, with a host of fighters securing their paths to the UFC Octagon since episode one in early August.
Those who have failed to have their hand raised in front of the UFC president and thus missed out on contracts will now need to return to the regional scene to rebuild.
An example of a fighter doing so successfully in recent times is Davi Bittencourt, who continued his streak since losing on DWCS three years ago with a brutal knockout on Friday night.

Ex-Dana White’s Contender Series fighter Davi Bittencourt lands KO of the Year contender at LFA 242
Bittencourt attempted to convince White to award him a UFC contract in October 2023.
The Brazilian flyweight prospect entered the cage at the Meta Apex in Las Vegas with a 13-3 record and was riding momentum from a title win under the Shooto Brasil banner.
The likes of Jose Aldo, Alexandre Pantoja, and Renan Barao all competed in that organization before finding success in the UFC.
Bittencourt was unable to follow in the footsteps of his fellow countrymen three years ago, having been knocked out in round two of his DWCS bout against Lucas Rocha.
But ‘The Black’ has bounced back extremely well by winning five fights in a row across three different sports.
After triumphs in MMA, grappling, and boxing, Bittencourt returned in his favored sport at LFA 242 on September 18.
The 31-year-old delivered a Knockout of the Year contender to remain unbeaten since fighting in front of White, as he rendered Devon Lozej unconscious with a brutal head kick in round two.
The main event in Minnesota would have been over after the head kick, but Bittencourt was still able to land a devastating flying ground strike on his unconscious rival before the referee intervened.

Having won titles in Favela Kombat and Arena Global across his past three MMA fights, Bittencourt may be close to securing another UFC shot.
And with the current season of DWCS wrapping up in a few weeks, perhaps ‘The Black’ will be on alert for any short-notice opportunities to arrive straight inside the Octagon.
