A need for more quality, particularly in the attacking areas, was identified as the solution, with the club allowing Leandro Trossard, Gabriel Jesus, and Gabriel Martinelli to leave.
Arsenal only recruited Christos Tzolis as an evolution of those who were on the left wing previously, but there is a feeling that the squad is slightly short of options in attack.
Now, the Gunners have been linked with making a move for Borussia Dortmund’s Maximilian Beier, after their failure to sign Julian Alvarez from Atletico Madrid.
According to TEAMtalk, Arsenal’s scouts have been impressed with Beier over the past years and have been working extensively on potential attacking targets, with the Dortmund star firmly on their radar.
The 23-year-old usually operates as a central striker but is also capable of playing out wide or as a No.10, with that versatility adding to his appeal to Arsenal as they look to increase their quality options.
Arsenal have drawn comparisons between Beier and Kai Havertz, Arteta’s first-choice attacker from the central role this season, another reason why the club are interested in the Dortmund star.
Maximilian Beier’s career in Germany
The 10-cap German international has impressed across the Bundesliga for the last several seasons after he made his debut in February 2020 for Hoffenheim.
Beier would need to depart on loan for two seasons, from 2021 until 2023, with Hannover in Bundesliga 2 for his ability to be nurtured, and upon his return, he impressed in the German top flight, which earned him a move to Dortmund in the summer of 2024.
Since making the move to the German giants, Beier has contributed 20 goals and 14 assists, helping to further establish his reputation as an intelligent, versatile and creative player.
Arsenal are not the only club keeping tabs on the 23-year-old, as both Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have been watching his progress.
