Manchester United are targeting Borussia Dortmund striker Serhou Guirassy for a possible January move, with Benjamin Sesko’s latest injury provoking worry.
Guirassy has been on the Red Devils’ radar since 2023, when he opted to join VfB Stuttgart permanently and shut down Manchester United’s advances.
Sesko was absent from Michael Carrick’s squad to face Fulham, which culminated in a 1-1 stalemate at Craven Cottage, through injury. His return timeline remains unclear.

“We’re not sure with Ben yet,” said Carrick after his side’s 1-1 draw versus Fulham. “He felt a bit of pain after the game [against Brighton], so we’re assessing him.
“At the moment, he definitely wasn’t ready for [Fulham], so I haven’t really got any more news to give you at this point. We’ll have to see what that brings,” concluded the Red Devils boss, who equalled an abysmal Premier League record with his side’s draw.
According to a report from TEAMtalk, Manchester United are exploring the possibility of bringing Guirassy, who struck 22 goals for Borussia Dortmund in 2025-26, to Old Trafford in January.
The Guinean bagsman has recorded four goals and two assists in four Bundesliga matches this term, and is now being closely monitored by the Red Devils.
Three years ago, the Manchester club settled for Rasmus Hojlund after receiving rejection from Guirassy. The Danish striker has since moved to Napoli following an initial loan period, and after an underwhelming Red Devils stint.
Guirassy’s numbers for Borussia Dortmund place him in the upper echelon of German top-flight forwards, having scored 64 goals in 102 appearances for the Bundesliga club.
According to the same report, the Guinean also fielded interest from Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, and reigning Premier League champions Arsenal this summer.

Will Manchester United move for Serhou Guirassy in January?
As it stands, there is no clear indication that Manchester United have decided to make a move for Guirassy. However, the Red Devils’ close monitoring of his situation suggests interest.
Michael Carrick’s men remain set on keeping Sesko, but are exploring more experienced options to integrate into their front line, should Joshua Zirkzee leave.
Matters are complicated further by Borussia Dortmund’s reluctance to sell; in 2025-26, the club finished as runners-up to Bayern Munich, but believe they can mount a Bundesliga title charge this term.
They currently top the 2026-27 German top-flight table with 12 points. Guirassy has registered meaningful contributions in three of their four Bundesliga wins.
The Guinean opened the scoring in a 2-0 victory against HSV, recorded two goal involvements in a 3-2 win versus Hoffenheim, and assisted Dortmund’s deadlock-breaking goal in their 3-0 Paderborn romp.
The 30-year-old has just two years remaining on his contract. While a move in January could prove arduous for Manchester United, the Bundesliga club will soon have a decision to make regarding Guirassy’s future.
