When George Lucas calls, Hollywood answers. This weekend, Lucas and co-founder Mellody Hobson celebrated the opening of their Lucas Museum of Narrative Art in Los Angeles, CA, with a star-studded gala. And when we say “star-studded,” that’s wildly underselling it. The sheer number of famous and talented people who showed up to the event is staggering, and one photo in particular partially captured that historic madness.
While we’ll run down the entire confirmed guest list below, check out this photo. It’s so beyond words that even filmmakers you adore more than anything are relegated to the back row. In fact, we’re gonna drop it here again in a larger size so you can expand it.
Okay, that photo is insane. And, according to Getty, here’s the rundown of who is in it: Robert De Niro, Matthew Robbins, Caleb Deschanel, Tyler Perry, Steven Spielberg, Frank Miller, Bryce Dallas Howard, Nathan Fielder, Ron Howard, D. B. Weiss, Spike Lee, Jon Favreau, George Lucas, Christopher Nolan, David Benioff, Peter Jackson, Lee Daniels, Guillermo del Toro, Edgar Wright, John Landis, Frank Marshall, Jon M. Chu, JR and Denis Villeneuve. By my count, that’s actually missing one or two people, so maybe they’re randoms who snuck in? Imagine that photo bomb.
Basically, though, that’s quite possibly the greatest collection of filmmakers ever captured in a single image. Lucas and Spielberg alone are wild, but Howard, Coppola, Lee, Favreau, Nolan, Jackson, del Toro, Wright, Landis, Chu, and Villeneuve too? And that’s not even everyone? Come on.
