According to Sheep Esports, the organization is shaping up to absorb the current 3DMAX roster, though nothing has been confirmed and no deal has been officially announced.
If Envy’s name rings a bell in Counter-Strike circles, that’s because it isn’t a new face. The org surfaced in the scene more than a decade ago, picking up and running with several French players who went on to make solid names for themselves in the space, before quietly departing Counter-Strike in January 2021 without having won anything substantial for years. Now the current 3DMAX lineup, sitting at the tail end of months of turmoil, is reportedly on the market for a new organizational home.
Envy wouldn’t be the only recognizable name making moves back into the scene this year, either – another notable return to competitive Counter-Strike has already given fans plenty to talk about in 2026.
A Roster in Freefall
For months, pretty much anyone under the 3DMAX banner has been dealing with serious admin issues – unpaid wages, missing prizes, and what’s been described as mismanagement galore. Things have continued to deteriorate rather than stabilize, which is exactly why the squad is reportedly looking for a new home in the first place.
The competitive picture hasn’t helped matters. 3DMAX failed to qualify for the Cologne Major months ago, a huge knock to morale that landed while the financial issues were already running rampant. It’s the kind of one-two punch that tends to accelerate a roster’s search for an exit, and comparisons to other recent lineup shuffles aren’t hard to find – the recent roster leak involving Stewie2K, autimatic, and Skadoodle is a decent reminder of how quickly these situations can move once the dominoes start falling.

The framing from Sheep Esports is dramatic – Envy could resurface in Counter-Strike “with a vengeance” after more than five years away, once an organization synonymous with French CS. That’s a strong claim to attach to a report that hasn’t been confirmed by either party, and it’s worth treating as exactly that: a report, not an announcement. Envy’s history with roster management in other titles gives some context for how the org typically operates, but nothing here locks in a done deal.
