Erica Francis recently announced her departure from Fox 2 Detroit on social media. She joined the station initially as an intern and later became a full-time employee. In the announcement post, she disclosed her final air date and shared her plans for what’s next in her career.

Francis took to Facebook and Instagram to share the news that she will no longer be a part of Fox 2 News. She also shared a picture of herself standing beside the station’s logo, wearing a blue outfit along with a lengthy caption, expressing her gratitude for the opportunity and her next career move.
“This is a hard one to write because there are so many memories, stories, and people I’ll carry with me into this next chapter,” she added. Francis further expressed her gratitude to fans, writing, “I’ll never forget it.”
“The people I’ve met, the challenges you’ve overcome, the milestones you’ve celebrated, and the stories you’ve shared with me, those stories became mine, too,” the news anchor added, referring to her overall experience at the station.
She revealed that she’s moving to Tampa, Florida, to be a morning anchor at WFLA News Channel 8. While she expressed her excitement for what’s ahead, she admitted that leaving behind Michigan and its people isn’t “easy” for her.
Francis added that her last day on-air in Detroit will be on October 2. “PLEASE don’t be a stranger. Stay in touch, especially you snowbirds!” she concluded. The reporter happens to be the fourth team member to bid adieu to the station after three departures earlier this year. Kellie Rowe stepped down from her position, while investigative reporter Rob Wolchek retired and Fox 2 Detroit vice president Brooks Blanton resigned (via Detroit Free Press).
