The Don’t Breathe universe featuring Jane Levy and Stephan Lang is coming out of hiatus. Fede Álvarez has shared a promising update on Don’t Breathe 3 that fans have been waiting for a long time. Álvarez revealed the news during a 10th-anniversary screening of the 2016 thriller at Beyond Fest on Sept. 26.

As per Dread Central, Fede Álvarez has confirmed that a third movie is moving forward, and this time, Jane Levy’s Rocky will return alongside Stephen Lang’s Blind Man.
Rocky and the Blind Man aren’t done yet. The first movie ends with Rocky escaping Detroit with her younger sister, Diddy, and the stolen money. A television report then delivers the twist that states that the Blind Man survived.
Yet, he keeps Rocky’s identity and the money out of his police statement. An alternate ending even teased him tracking the sisters to the station, although filmmakers cut that version from the theatrical release.
The original Don’t Breathe introduced Rocky as a young woman desperate to leave her abusive home. She and two other burglars target a blind veteran, expecting an easy score, only to become trapped inside his house.
As per Box Office Mojo, the 2016 movie earned about $157 million worldwide on a roughly $10 million budget. IMDb currently gives it 7.1/10, while Rotten Tomatoes lists an 88% Tomatometer and 79% Popcornmeter.
The franchise has released two movies so far. Don’t Breathe 2 arrived in 2021 without Levy, shifting attention back to Lang’s character as he tried to rescue a kidnapped girl. Rodo Sayagues directed the sequel and co-wrote it with Álvarez. The follow-up currently carries a 6.0/10 IMDb rating and sits at 43% on Rotten Tomatoes, with an 85% Popcornmeter. The sequel grossed around $54 million.
Now Álvarez has written a new script that brings both survivors back into the same horror universe. He and Levy previously worked together on Evil Dead, where she stepped in the shoes of Mia, before reuniting for Don’t Breathe.
