Game Republic New Horizons has added Housemarque and Bithell Games to its speaker lineup in addition to an open session with Nintendo representatives for developers and publishers.
Housemarque VFX lead Robbert Groenendijk will host a session on the design and technical implementation of visual effects in Saros. Bithell Games director of video games Mike Bithell will join Knowledge editor Patrick Garratt for a fireside chat about the studio’s upcoming title, Vampirium: 1997.
Nintendo business development and developer relations representatives will host a breakfast session for developers and publishers on October 15 from 8:30 to 9:30 am.
The informal session will allow attendees to ask questions about “working with Nintendo, developing tools, publishing opportunities, support resources, and more.”
Attendees do not need to be registered Nintendo developers or publishers. A GR New Horizons ticket is required to attend the session.
The event will be held from October 14 to 16 at Riverside Stadium in Middlesborough. Highlights include a keynote from Ken Kutaragi, a fireside chat with Landfall Games CBO Rebecca Lautner hosted by GamesIndustry.biz features editor Lewis Packwood, and a session on 007 First Light led by IO Interactive CEO Hakan Abrak.
Additional sessions include the panel “Hype-free Assessment of AI in Games” with Tommy Thompson (AI and Games), Duyguy Cakmak (Creative Assembly), and Matthias Siemonsmeier (Splash Damage).
There will also be a fireside chat in the Investor Zone with Tencent business development director Teddy Keefe, and the panel “Beyond the Pitch: Securing (and Surviving) Angel Investment” featuring Nick Button-Brown (The Game Angels), Tracy McGarrigan (Ansible), and Ian Masters (Flick Games).
Other sessions feature public funders such as the BFI, the Arts Council, and Innovate UK; Xbox on bringing games to its platform; publishers and VC investors; panels on international markets; and masterclasses on narrative design and building a Steam page.
