TUF Gaming A16 | RTX 5060 (115 W) | 16 GB DDR5: was $1599.99 now $1349.99
We reviewed the RTX 5050 version of this TUF A16 very recently, and came away hugely impressed. This one has a proper 115 W RTX 5060, a 16-core AMD chip with genuine grunt, and a 1 TB SSD. That’s pretty impressive in its own right, given that many lesser-wattage RTX 5060 machines with 512 GB of storage are far more expensive. It’s got a lovely chassis, too.

It wasn’t long ago that RTX 5060 gaming laptops could be found for under $1,000, or somewhere near it. These days I’m regularly finding low-wattage versions for $1,500+ on discount, a sign of our memory crisis-afflicted times.
This Asus TUF Gaming A16 caught my eye this morning, though. While the $1,350 price tag might seem steep for an RTX 5060 machine, it’s actually pretty reasonable in the current market—especially as it’s got a seriously beefy 16-core AMD CPU from the previous generation.
Plus, the GPU wattage is the full-fat 115 W spec, which is more than I can say for 90% of laptop deals I’m finding right now. Pair that with a 1200p, 165 Hz screen, and you’ve got yourself a great set of components for gaming, alongside a CPU that’s more than capable of munching down on any productivity task you can feed it.
“Ah, but it’ll have a 512 GB SSD,” I thought to myself as I read the listing. Nope, it’s got a proper 1 TB drive. The chassis looks to be a good ‘un, too, as our Zak found when he reviewed the RTX 5050 Asus TUF Gaming A16 recently. He liked it a lot—and I’m willing to bet he’d put his stamp of approval on this RTX 5060 version as well.

Really, the only major downside (other than the fact that this used to be RTX 5070 laptop deal pricing) is that you only get 16 GB of DDR5, not 32. Ah well. You can’t have everything these days, can you? And as our Nick found earlier this year, 16 GB is still perfectly fine for gaming.
In this sort of market, I reckon this is one of the better gaming laptop deals I’ve seen in a while. And while I’m still disappointed by the lack of discounts on RTX 5070 machines at this point (roll on Prime Day itself, which officially kicks off tomorrow), I think I’d be very happy if I picked up one of these instead.
There’s nothing you or I can do about the current pricing situation when it comes to gaming laptops, although I do expect more discounts on other machines over the next few days. Right now, though, I’m sorely tempted by this one. How about you?
