Ben Affleck and Kerry Washington are currently promoting their upcoming Netflix movie, Animals. The two stars play a married couple in the political thriller, but Affleck recently joked about Washington’s real-life marriage to former NFL player Nnamdi Asomugha.

Ben Affleck recently had a humorous exchange with Kerry Washington while promoting Animals. Affleck plays Washington’s husband in the upcoming Netflix movie, giving him an opportunity to joke about what it was like to pretend to be married to her.
Washington is married to former NFL cornerback and actor Nnamdi Asomugha. Asomugha played several seasons in the NFL with the Oakland Raiders, Philadelphia Eagles, and San Francisco 49ers.
During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Kerry Washington revealed that Asomugha visited the set of Animals and watched an early cut of the movie. She said, “Yeah, he came to set and he saw an early cut.”
The conversation then turned toward Affleck’s connection to Asomugha. Affleck, who has described himself as a New England Patriots fan, was asked about Washington’s husband after the former NFL cornerback’s time on the movie set.
He said, “Nnamdi is no, no joke. I’m a fan just to begin with, but I had a deeper bond with Nnamdi after I had some time pretending to be married to her.” He jokingly told Asomugha, “I was like, ‘I see you. I feel you. You’re doing a man’s job, sir.’ And I just had to tip the hat because I know this s— is not easy.”
Washington quickly interrupted Affleck with a simple response, “Enough! He’s lucky, and so are you.” Affleck responded by pointing out Washington’s reaction and jokingly suggesting that she had proven his point.
Affleck also joked about Asomugha’s impressive athletic build and stature. The actor compared encountering him to meeting legendary football players such as Ray Lewis. While the exchange was clearly playful, it highlighted the friendship between Affleck and Washington.
Animals is set to arrive this weekend, giving fans the chance to see Affleck and Washington play a married couple on screen.
