A lot of people saw everything in You Can See Everything at movie theaters over the weekend.
Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim’s highly anticipated documentary about Theranos scammer Elizabeth Holmes broke box office records during its opening weekend with a staggering $15 million debut from around 850 screens across the U.S. and Canada, more than double of its projected $7 million from its budget of the same amount.
The massive number makes it the biggest opening for a non-musical documentary in more than 20 years, only trailing political documentary Fahrenheit 9/11, which opened with $23.9 million in 2004. It broke the record that was previously set by 2012 nature doc Chimpanzee, which grossed $10.7 million.
You Can See Everything had more than 2,000 sellout showings over the weekend, according to A24, which is in part thanks to its viral marketing campaign and glowing reviews from critics since its surprise world premiere at Telluride Film Festival.
The genre-bending film, which is nearly three hours long, opened in second over the weekend with its limited screenings. Paramount’s video game adaptation Street Fighter came out on top with $31 million. 20th Century Studios survival thriller Whalefall followed in third place, grossing a disappointing $8 million.

You Can See Everything, which was produced in secret over three years, follows Holmes in the weeks before she started her 11-year prison sentence in 2023 for defrauding investors with her medical tech company.
Holmes and her partner, California hotel heir Billy Evans, asked A24 to intimately film their life with their two children before she surrendered to her life behind bars.
Fielder, an absurdist comedian known for his shows Nathan For You and The Rehearsal, took on the project alongside Primetime director Oppenheim.
“I am still struggling to this day to understand what I went through,” Fielder said in a New York Film Festival Q&A session after the screening.

The film has received heaps of critical acclaim, achieving a rare 99 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes, with some calling it the “film of the year,” while others speculate that the film could nab the first-ever Best Picture nomination for a documentary at this year’s Academy Awards.
It has been a huge year for A24. After Marty Supreme opened in December 2025 as the company’s highest-grossing release ever, Backrooms quickly broke that record this summer by grossing more than $400 million on a $10 million budget.
