Rod Stewart has declared he feels “f***ing brilliant” in a health update shared after he underwent a heart procedure.
The veteran rocker, 81, was forced to cancel the remainder of his tour dates this year after having the operation in August.
Attending a charity gala performance of Sinatra the Musical with his wife, Penny Lancaster, on Thursday 15 October in London’s West End, the “Maggie May” singer was apparently in good spirits.
“F***ing brilliant! I swam 400 metres the other day,” he told the Daily Mail when asked about how he was feeling.
Stewart underwent a “routine coronary stent procedure”, not long after a moment in June where he paused during a concert in Utah and had to use an oxygen mask, after almost fainting.
Lancaster, 55, also provided an update during an appearance on Loose Women last month, sharing that her husband was still full of “voracious energy”.

“Well it was this kind of voracious energy that he had and he still has at 81!” she said. “He’s still looking at the tour he’s got next year, he’s still recording new music…”
“Whether it’s him going to the gym three times a week, you know, it’s incredible to watch and so inspiring and for our kids as well to look up and admire.”

She also offered some insights into life with the rock’n’roll legend during an episode of the At Home with Vanessa podcast.
Lancaster told host Vanessa Feltz that Stewart had experienced a few upper respiratory infections after performing at a venue with “very high altitude”.
At the time, however, they were unaware that he had underlying heart issues.
“They detected a slight blockage which needed a stent, which, according to a lot of research, it appears most people over the age of 65 will often need and require a stent,” Lancaster said.
She joked that she, her brother and Stewart’s professional health support were being strict with him to ensure he makes a full recovery.

“Between me and my brother, his trainer, and doctors and everyone, you know, we’re not letting him get away with it … he has to do as he’s told,” she said.
In September, Stewart announced that his farewell tour, titled The Final Encore, would take place in 2027, while confirming that he has no plans to retire from music altogether.
“My dear friends, the time has come to say farewell to life on the road,” he said in a statement. “After more than six decades, The Final Encore will most definitely be my last.
“I’ve been singing the music I love since I was 19 years old, and I’ve had the privilege of taking it around the world to all of you. It has given me a life beyond anything I could ever have imagined, and I hope I’ve given you some fond memories in return.
“So, may I take this opportunity to thank you for making this extraordinary life possible. I hope you’ll join me so I can thank you the best way I know how, with the music and one hell of a show. See you there.”
Stewart will be touring the US including Florida, Georgia, and Colorado, as well as Canada, Ireland, England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and mainland Europe.
