Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Flyweight warriors Lone’er Kavanagh vs. Ramazan Temirov will throw down this weekend (Sat., Oct. 24, 2026) inside Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, for UFC 333.
It didn’t take long for Kavanagh to crack the Top 10 and join the Flyweight title mix. Five fights into his UFC career, the athletic young prospect has already faced off with three top-ranked opponents and defeated a former world champion. He’s admittedly lost two of his last three, but nobody is doubting the 27-year-old standout’s overall skill and potential.
Temirov is just three wins into his UFC career as well, a relatively new face with some Rizin experience to boot. The Uzbekistan fighter has a fan-friendly style, a nonstop mix of power punches, spinning kicks, and relentless wrestling. He enters this fight following a sensational knockout over Steve Erceg, so one more major win could punch his ticket into the Top Five.
Let’s take a closer look at the betting odds and strategic keys for each athlete:

How Kavanagh Wins
Kavanagh is an explosive striker with an interesting mix of tools. He’s not the tallest Flyweight nor does he have the longest reach, yet Kavanagh is able to cover distance quickly with fast bursts and sharp counter punching. In addition, he’s a dangerous kicker, which was a notable aspect of his victory over Brandon Moreno.
This is a rare matchup in which both Kavanagh and Temirov will not be facing a height disadvantage. The two pocket sluggers will not have to close an unusual amount of distance to hit one another, which will change the dynamic. Between the two, Kavanagh is the much straighter hitter and relies less on raw explosiveness to make his standup function.
There are a couple keys to dealing with an athlete like Temirov. First and foremost, Kavanagh cannot pull away from exchanges — that’s how the long right swing eventually lands flush. Kavanagh has to stand his ground and get down behind his lead shoulder or cut off at an angle, as both options will give him counter options. That’s the other half of his game plan: he has to take advantage of the wild, looping offense.
It’s not easy to stand in front of a sprinting haymaker and try to intercept with a counter, but Kavanagh has to make Temirov pay if he’s to win this fight.

How Temirov Wins
Temirov may not be the biggest Flyweight around, but he’s still an overwhelming athletic force. He commits so heavily to all his offense — be it a big swing, spinning attack, or blast double — that his opponents have little time to react and little room for error.
Anticipate the wrong attack, and a massive collision is incoming.
Temirov’s advantage here is that unpredictability and dual-pronged offense. In a straight kickboxing match, I would favor Kavanagh, who has more weapons and tends to build his offense in a more strategic manner. However, the threat of the takedown can really change that dynamic, and Temirov has to make use of his takedowns even if he struggles to hold down Kavanagh.
The primary adjustment Temirov should make for this fight is to straighten out his punches a bit. The deep overhand steps and lunging left hooks were the right call against Erceg, a tall and lanky jabber, but Kavanagh is more likely to stand his ground and fire back with power. As such, Temirov should feint more often, as well as make his right hand straighter and take it to the body occasionally.
A little boxing variety can go a long way, particularly given Temirov’s unpredictable kicks and sudden level changes.

Kavanagh vs. Temirov Prediction
This is a competitive matchup between two fighters who could knock out the other in any given exchange. Kavanagh is likely the brighter long term prospect, while Temirov is much more experienced and could be ready to contend at this very moment. It should be an interesting matchup wherever the fight moves, and I’m curious to see whose gas tank holds up in the later rounds (if we make it that far).
My prediction, however, is based largely on one element: Kavanagh went to war with Brandon Royval just three months ago. Though he technically lost via submission, he absorbed a ton of damage and was rocked several times in that grueling fight. I get that he’s a spry 27-year-old intent on UFC gold, but chasing a quick rebound against one of the division’s most ferocious hitters a great idea?
I don’t love the career management. There’s no need for a young, highly-ranked talent to take on such a tough opponent so quickly after a hard loss. In a close matchup, these circumstances can really make a difference … and dramatically alter the course of a career.
