The Golden State Warriors are exploring trade options involving forward Kristaps Porziņģis, ESPN’s Shams Charania reports.
Porziņģis has been away from the team while dealing with recurring POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome) symptoms.

Last week, the Warriors forward posted on social media about his health.
“Hello people, I’m working with doctors and experts to figure out how to be fully back to good health asap,” the one-time All-Star and NBA champion wrote.
“Honestly, I’m getting better and better. I just have to stay patient, and I believe I’ll be feeling great again soon. It has definitely been frustrating dealing with some health stuff that you can’t exactly pinpoint, on top of injuries throughout my career, so it has added up for sure, but we will get through it.
“Health is wealth. Thank you for all the support.”
Porziņģis also added:
“I appreciate all the internet doctors trying to diagnose and help, but I’m in the best hands. So everyone can relax now … and I don’t have hiv or aids.”
On Oct. 14, before Porziņģis released his statement, Golden State said the forward would remain “out indefinitely” and, at the time, called it a “health-related” matter.
Charania’s report on Wednesday was the first time that it was said to be recurring POTS symptoms, and that the forward was contemplating his future in the sport. Porziņģis was first diagnosed with POTS in 2025.
According to Cleveland Clinic, “POTS is a condition that causes your heart to beat faster than normal when you go from sitting or lying down to standing up.” Symptoms can vary widely from patient to patient, but Porziņģis’ seem more respiratory and fatigue-related.
POTS significantly limited the 7-foot-2 Porziņģis during an Eastern Conference semifinal series against the New York Knicks in the 2024-25 season, when he was still with the Boston Celtics.
Porziņģis averaged just 15.5 minutes in that six-game series, which ended Boston’s NBA title defense, with Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla revealing after Game 5 that Porziņģis didn’t play the second half because “he couldn’t breathe.”
The Knicks selected Porziņģis with the fourth overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft. He previously played overseas for Sevilla in Spain.
Porziņģis spent three seasons with the Knicks before missing the entire 2018-19 season with a torn ACL. He then bounced around the league, spending time with the Dallas Mavericks, Washington Wizards, Celtics, Atlanta Hawks, and Warriors.
Over his 10-year career, Porziņģis has played 533 games. He is averaging 19.5 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game.
Last year, the forward split his time between the Hawks and the Warriors. Overall, he played in 32 games and averaged 16.7 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game.
It was the fewest games he played in a season in his career, outside of the missed 2018-19 campaign, and his lowest points-per-game average since his rookie season in 2015-16.
