Jack Antonoff is calling out Ed Sheeran for the way the singer handled the controversy surrounding his Loop Tour.

The British musician and longtime Taylor Swift collaborator has faced backlash in recent months after rapper Macklemore was dropped from his tour due to his onstage display of support for Palestine amid the ongoing conflict with Israel. His exit from the tour came after billionaire Robert Kraft gathered other stadium owners to join him in blocking Macklemore from performing at their venues.

Although Sheeran insisted that he was “not complicit” in Macklemore’s firing, Grammy-winning music producer Antonoff had some choice words for the songwriter in an interview with The Guardian published Sunday.

“It’s not in any way a strange, uncomfortable or controversial thing to say, it’s a deeply human thing to say,” the Bleachers frontman told the outlet about Macklemore’s call to “free Palestine.”

“They’re going to let some f***ing promoter tell me what I can say? Don’t book me. I’ll play for free outside.”

Antonoff went on to say that Sheeran “missed a massive, beautiful opportunity there: just cancel the whole f***ing tour, then play for free outside each venue, raise a bunch of money, rather than let a f***ing billionaire tell you what to do. The reason it’s not an anomaly or niche issue is because we all live in a world where billionaires are constantly telling us what to do. So stand the f*** up.”

The Independent has reached out to Sheeran’s reps for comment.

Hours after he was removed from the Loop Tour, Macklemore said in a statement that Sheeran’s “apolitical stance” was “being challenged in a way it never had been before.”

All four of Sheeran’s supporting acts dropped out of the tour in solidarity with Macklemore. Meanwhile, other celebrities called him out for his inaction and his social media following dropped by tens of thousands.

Returning to stage after the scandal, Sheeran tearfully said during his Philadelphia concert that his friends and family had “abandoned” him after “one of the worst weeks of my life.”

But he also made his stance on the matter clear.

“What happened in Israel and at the Nova Music Festival on October 7 was horrific and compounded centuries of Jewish pain,” he said in a statement on stage. “What is happening in Gaza is catastrophic and unjustifiable and disproportionate.”

In the meantime, Macklemore doubled down on his support for Palestine and announced that he would be going on a Free Palestine tour this month.
