The Night Comes for Us кино тэргүүлжээ.

Sylvester Stallone has called his 2008 movie Rambo the best action film he ever made. A new ranking says it’s also one of the most violent.

Collider published its list of the eight most violent action movies of all time on Nov. 1, and Rambo came in at No. 2. The only movie ahead of it is The Night Comes for Us, a 2018 Indonesian action film starring Iko Uwais.

The Raid 2 is No. 3, followed by Sisu, Kill Bill: Volume 1, The Raid, Dredd and John Woo’s Hard Boiled.

‘Bodies Are Dismembered and Decapitated’

Rambo was the fourth movie in the series, and it came out 26 years after First Blood. Stallone directed it and wrote the script with Art Monterastelli.

In the movie, John Rambo is living in Thailand, catching snakes and taking people up and down the river in his boat. A group of missionary doctors from Colorado asks him to take them up the Salween River into Burma, now Myanmar, so they can bring medical help to a Karen village. He says no a few times before agreeing. Soldiers later wipe out the village and capture the missionaries, and Rambo goes back in.

Collider called it “one of the most unprecedentedly violent action movies in the history of mainstream Hollywood action flicks.” The site said Stallone went that far because he wanted the movie to show what was really happening in the conflict.

“Bodies are dismembered and decapitated, people are shot in the head point-blank,” Collider wrote. “It’s tough to even watch Rambo without the temptation to cover one’s eyes.”

Stallone: ‘It’s Horrifying’

Stallone knows. In a 2022 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he said Rambo is the one film he’s “truly proud of.”

“It’s the best action film I’ve ever done because it’s the most truthful,” he said. “But I got excoriated because the movie’s so violent. And it is violent. It’s horrifying.”

He also said he “never thought it would ever reach the theater.”

It opened on Jan. 25, 2008. Critics gave it a 38% score on Rotten Tomatoes, but audiences gave it an A- CinemaScore. It made about $113 million worldwide on a budget of around $50 million, according to Box Office Mojo.

Myanmar’s military government told DVD sellers there not to sell it, and the movie was never released in the country.

Where It Fits in the Series

First Blood came out in 1982 and was far less bloody than what came later. Al Pacino was in the running for the role before Stallone got it, and the knife Rambo carried in that first movie kicked off a whole industry.

Stallone played Rambo one last time in Rambo: Last Blood in 2019.
