Conor McGregor’s former BFF Artem Lobov may have gotten several million dollars out of “The Notorious” for helping the Irish sports star launch his extremely lucrative Proper 12 whiskey brand, but it was only after Lobov launched a contentious lawsuit that McGregor paid up.
Now Lobov is sharing some thoughts on why McGregor has been so miserly when it comes to paying the friends who help him.
“He took care of nobody, he f–ked over his coach and all his best friends,” Lobov wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “Lee, Derek, Gerry Vegas, Charlie myself and others. Shook hands on different deals that they brought in, money came in but he didn’t pay what was promised.”
“He got Proper f–ked on his whiskey deal that I negotiated and his manager Audie stole from him and me. I showed him unmatched loyalty, I don’t say that lightly as a 40 year old man. He got 100M for Mayweather what did [head coach] John [Kavanagh] get??? 100K if even, meant to be 5% but he never paid that for any of his fights.”
“He fired his best mate Derek, father of 3 kids, weeks before Christmas over something Derek said that Conor didn’t like,” Lobov continued. “Paid Lee, the founder and director of [TheMacLife.com] 500 euros per week before tax for years, agreed to pay Gerry 10K at the start + 10K at the end of the camp, then wouldnt pay the 2nd 10K. That’s just a few examples.”
Lobov blamed the change on drugs and alcohol and suggested McGregor was only fighting again to ‘support the habit.’
“We all used to meet up and wonder why he does that to us,” Lobov wrote. “And the conclusion we came to is that his drink and drug abuse brings out the worst in him and the sober Conor would never mistreat his brothers like that.”
“Conor was my brother, I loved him like one. All the truth and facts will come out. Drink, drugs and no accountability is what brought all the troubles into his life. All of this allegedly of course.”
Lobov has shared the story of how he did all the research and legwork to start a McGregor whiskey brand, only to get cut out of the operation once it started rolling. He never got to lay it all out in court, though. On the week a trial was set to start, Lobov and McGregor settled for several million dollars, pointing towards Artem telling the truth.
How correct is Lobov in this case? That’s for you to decide.
