The documentary appears to be real. The “tell-all” part? We’ll believe that when we see it.
Netflix is reportedly producing an untitled documentary centered on Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) CEO Dana White, with the project tentatively expected to premiere during the first quarter of 2027.
According to Page Six Hollywood, the documentary was originally conceived as a film about Las Vegas before eventually evolving into the story of White and his rise to becoming one of the most influential executives in combat sports.
The project reportedly traces White’s role in convincing Frank and Lorenzo Fertitta to purchase UFC for $2 million in 2001, followed by its $4 billion sale to an Endeavor-led ownership group 15 years later.
Filmmaker Gotham Chopra is reportedly directing the documentary. Chopra has extensive experience covering high-profile athletes, previously working on projects featuring Tom Brady, LeBron James and Stephen Curry. Chopra declined to comment on the White documentary when contacted by Page Six.
Netflix reportedly greenlit the project while the streaming giant was negotiating to acquire UFC’s new broadcast package. Those rights ultimately went to Paramount as part of a seven-year deal worth $7.7 billion, but Netflix continued moving forward with the documentary anyway.
Recent material is also expected to be included, such as UFC Freedom 250 at the White House and White’s continued expansion into professional boxing through Zuffa Boxing alongside Saudi powerbroker Turki Alalshikh.
Whether this is truly a “tell-all,” however, remains unclear.
Neither Netflix nor UFC has formally announced the documentary, and there is no indication whether White is cooperating with the production or has any creative control (but he probably does). The report also doesn’t confirm whether the film will examine the more controversial aspects of White’s career, including his highly publicized gambling, relationship with President Donald Trump, frequent media feuds and the 2022 video showing him slap his wife during an argument.
At this stage, the confirmed subject matter sounds more like a career retrospective than an unauthorized expose — and if you need a refresher for his career … watch any recent hour-plus interview with White.
That could certainly change once Netflix releases a trailer or synopsis, but calling it a “tell-all” may be premature.
The Dana White documentary currently has no official title or exact release date.
