The upcoming superhero flick Supergirl has unfortunately had its Rotten Tomatoes prediction fall as reactions to the film’s early screenings continue to drop on social media. The movie has suffered a reduction in its box office forecasts over the past two weeks as well, partly due to the gauntlet of summer blockbusters that the Craig Gillespie-directed production will need to compete against in June and early July. While Supergirl is a follow-up to James Gunn’s Superman, in which Milly Alcock’s Kara Zor-El appears in a brief cameo to pick up her superdog Krypto, it has a deliberately different tone and direction to its Man of Steel counterpart. Supergirl arrives nationwide in US theaters on June 26, 2026.
Supergirl is predicted to hover closer to a ‘Rotten’ rating
The DCU blockbuster Supergirl is predicted to have a 63% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, as based on a bet on Kalshi (as of June 23 at 9:00 AM PT). We have included the time signature here since the prediction has fluctuated within the past few hours. The full results at the time of writing can be found below:

Given how wild these predictions can be, it’s important to take this with a grain of salt. There is no Rotten Tomatoes rating for Supergirl at this time, but a score should appear after the film’s review embargo lifts tomorrow, June 24, at 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET, according to @embargoliftsfor on Instagram.
Either way, this 63% prediction for the film is a sharp decline from the 76% that we reported two weeks ago. A 76% on the review site would give Supergirl its highest ‘Certified Fresh’ status, which Superman received with its high 83% score, while a 63% would give it the more average ‘Fresh’ label. If it dips below 60%, however — which this prediction is dangerously close to — the movie will receive ‘Rotten’ status.
Looking at the history of the bet, which started in the middle of May, Supergirl was mostly hovering between a 70% to 78% range for its Rotten Tomatoes rating. There was a sharp spike in early June that had it climb up to a lofty 89%. But that changed dramatically on June 22 as more reactions to early screenings have dropped online, joining the mixed reactions to the film from many critics on June 18 when the social media embargo lifted.
Pouring through the reviews posted on X (formerly Twitter), several points stand out. Many praise the commanding performance from Milly Alcock as the rebellious, brash, and messy superheroine, particularly her scenes that play opposite to David Corenswet’s Superman. Klepcx on X writes that “if Superman being raised by the Kents is what makes him relatable to humanity, then it’s Kara’s sense of loss and disconnection that makes her just as relatable in a completely different way.”
Others found Jason Momoa’s role as the bounty hunter Lobo to be a blast, though he could have had more scenes in the film. Nick Spake on the platform says that “Milly Alcock is a dynamite lead, doing the heavy-lifting in a DCU follow-up with underwhelming action, an underdeveloped villain, and an underutilized Lobo.” Meanwhile, Tessa Smith of Mama’s Geeky calls the film “just fine” and “a mixed bag” given that “some adaptation choices and a bland villain keep it from greatness,” referencing the film being drawn from the “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” comics.
For better and worse, several reactions compare Supergirl to James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy and the visually stark Mad Max: Fury Road. TheHoloFiles believes the film is a “below average Guardians of the Galaxy movie” and is disappointed by its “Mad Max: Fury Road rip offs, dull visuals, and thin plot.” Likewise, Spake found the movie to be “surprisingly bleak, tonally and visually,” compared to her spiffy cameo in Superman.
