The Boroughs
Netflix canceled The Boroughs after just one season earlier this month. The Duffer Brothers, creators of Stranger Things, developed the series for the platform. The decision drew controversy given the showrunners’ track record with the streamer.
Building the Band
Netflix axed competition series Building the Band after a single season this week (via Deadline). The show featured late One Direction singer Liam Payne before his untimely death. The cancellation added another title to the platform’s growing 2026 chopping block.
The Lincoln Lawyer (Renewed for One Final Season)
The Lincoln Lawyer appeared on Netflix Global Top 10 charts for 29 weeks across four seasons. The series garnered 171 million views since 2023. Its fourth season debuted with nine million opening weekend views, up from season three’s seven million.
Co-showrunners Ted Humphrey and Dailyn Rodriguez addressed the decision in a joint statement. “All good things must come to an end, but thankfully sometimes how they come to an end is up to us,” they said. They promised fans “the satisfying finale Mickey Haller deserves.”
Other Canceled Netflix Shows in 2026
Netflix also canceled The Abandons, Terminator Zero, and The Vince Staples Show this year. Pop The Balloon LIVE, Selling the City, and With Love, Meghan also got the axe. Alice In Borderland, Class, and Miss Governor each lost their spots on the platform. Additionally, Strip Law, What’s in the Box?, and F1: The Academy all faced cancellation this year.
These decisions bring Netflix’s total cancellations to 14 shows across various genres in 2026.
