A fan-favorite superhero sequel is climbing the streaming charts, showing that Ryan Reynolds’ movie is still pulling in audiences. The R-rated action-comedy, which features a blink-and-you-miss-it cameo from Brad Pitt, has found a new wave of viewers after landing on a new platform.

According to data from FlixPatrol, Deadpool 2 ranks seventh among the most-watched movies on HBO Max in the United States. It rubs shoulders with Lee Cronin’s The Mummy and other recent hits. However, it is not the sole Deadpool entry on the platform, as Deadpool 2: Super Duper Cut is also in the top 10. But the original film and 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine sit elsewhere, unavailable in the current HBO Max catalog.
David Leitch directed the sequel from a script by Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, and Ryan Reynolds. The story launches with a gut punch, aka the murder of Vanessa, played by Morena Baccarin, and spirals into chaos as Josh Brolin’s time-traveling Cable makes an entrance to eliminate a young mutant, Russell Collins (Julian Dennison), whose future self triggers devastation.
Zazie Beetz debuts as Domino, whose luck-based powers deliver some of the film’s coolest action sequences. Brianna Hildebrand, Leslie Uggams, and Stefan Kapičić return as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Blind Al, and the voice of Colossus, respectively. Brief appearances from James McAvoy, Nicholas Hoult, Evan Peters, and other X-Men veterans pepper the runtime. Brad Pitt’s cameo as the invisible Vanisher lasts seconds and still sparks conversation.
Critics and audiences backed the film upon its release. Rotten Tomatoes shows an 83% Certified Fresh rating from critics alongside an 85% Popcornmeter score. The box office told a louder story, surpassing $786 million worldwide on a $110 million budget. That haul greenlit Deadpool & Wolverine, which stormed cinemas in 2024.
Marvel fans have now fixed their gaze on Avengers: Doomsday, releasing this December. Conflicting reports keep the door ajar for Reynolds to appear in the next colossal MCU crossover. Nothing is confirmed, but the chatter persists.
