A “patriotic” meal served aboard President Donald Trump’s Air Force One has the internet in stitches for its comically petite proportions.
Monica Crowley, the Trump-appointed chief of protocol for the U.S., posted a photo Monday evening while the presidential plane was en route to the NATO summit in Turkey.
“Patriotic Freedom 250 meal aboard AF1,” she captioned the post, which depicted the spread. The tray, stamped with the presidential seal, held a diminutive hamburger and a hot dog, which could have passed for hors d’oeuvres.
The frank, slicked with ketchup and mustard, appeared no longer than two stars-and-stripes cake balls sitting beside it. Social media users quickly pounced on the fun-size meal.
“Gee, a short weenie,” wrote one X user, while another chimed in: “That’s an awful small hot dog. What happened, did you end up in coach?”
“That looks pathetic TBH…I would’ve expected better from POTUS,” a third user wrote. Still another added: “WTF is that? Looks like a kid’s meal.”
A subset of commenters zeroed in on the use of ketchup — a culinary faux pas in certain circles.
“Where i come from Ketchup on a hot dog is a major no-no,” wrote one user.
Another user joked: “No Kraut? Where’s Bobby?” It was seemingly a reference to HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who, along with other administration officials, is reportedly obsessed with fermented foods such as sauerkraut.
Not everyone was critical. Some found the pint-sized presentation endearing, with one user writing: “That tiny hot dog is the cutest thing I have ever seen.”
It’s not the first time the president has been mocked for allegedly modest proportions. For decades, he has been dogged by jokes about his “small hands.” On the 2016 campaign trail, Marco Rubio quipped of Trump: “Have you seen his hands? And you know what they say about men with small hands.” Trump later displayed his hands before a crowd and declared: “I guarantee you there is no problem.”
It’s also not the first time the in-flight meals served aboard Trump’s plane have gone viral.
Shortly after the 2024 election, Donald Trump Jr. posted a photo of himself, his father, Elon Musk, Mike Johnson, and Kennedy dining on McDonald’s at cruising altitude. Kennedy — long an outspoken critic of junk food — was pictured holding a burger.
“Make America Healthy Again starts TOMORROW,” Donald Trump Jr. captioned the post.
Earlier this month, the president’s daughter-in-law Bettina Trump shared an image of a sugar cookie served aboard Air Force One, decorated with Trump’s face carved into Mount Rushmore. Roughly two hours later, Trump posted a video on Truth Social of a gold replica of the monument bearing his likeness.
Trump was also skewered online this month after Crowley posted a picture of the president’s new Qatari-gifted Air Force One, which appeared to be fitted with dozens of fake books, some of which were labeled “Library.”
