Costco and Oregon-based Deschutes Brewery are bringing an end to their joint-branded, award-winning line of Kirkland beers.
Deschutes chief executive officer Peter Skrbek confirmed the brand’s end in a July 1 memo sent to distributors, according to Beer Business Daily.
The joint beer brand produced Kirkland Signature Helles-Style Lager and Kirkland Signature Vintage Ale. With production expected to wind down as soon as this month, that means the beers will likely disappear from Costco warehouses by early-to-mid fall, according to VinePair.

While Kirkland has several liquor options among its brands, the lager and vintage ale are the only beers among its current offerings.
The companies joined forces in December 2024. By the following year, the venture’s Helles-Style Lager began winning recognition at the World Beer Cup. In 2025, the beer won a silver medal, and in 2026 it won a bronze.
The beers were also considered affordable when compared to other craft beers. A 12-pack of the beers cost $13.99. Some 6-packs of craft beer can cost $13 or more.

“When I last purchased this beer, it was available in 12-packs for $13.99, making it as cost-effective as beers like Modelo,” Shortbrews reported in a 2026 review.
Costco’s Helles-Style Lager is made in the German helles style. It has a pale color, a malt forward flavor, and a hint of floral hops, with a 4.5 ABV.

Skrbek reportedly told distributors that Costco plans to continue buying the already-produced beers, and that he “wouldn’t be too surprised if the lager makes a return at some point,” according to Brewbound.
Deschutes saw a nine percent jump in its volume sales the same year it launched its Costco partnership. In the year before the collaboration, Deschutes reported an 11 percent decrease in year-over-year volume sales.

Since then, Deschutes has been steadily growing. Its year-to-date dollar sales are up 8.3 percent and its volume sales are up 9.3 percent compared to 2025, according to market research firm Circana.
Skrbek said in his memo to distributors that the brewery is looking forward to continued growth in the back half of 2026.
