Adam Sandler‘s upcoming Netflix movie has released an official trailer. In the heartfelt bildungsroman, his daughter, Sunny Sandler, takes on the lead role as she navigates through high school and personal life. The musical teen drama will premiere on the streamer this year.
The official logline reads, “In this coming-of-age dramedy, Sophie Birenbaum is ready for the spotlight as the lead in her high school musical — until suddenly she’s living with even more drama at home than on the stage.”

Adam Sandler produces movie starring daughter in lead role
In the trailer, Sunny Sandler delivers an emotional performance as Sophie Birenbaum. Without a father around, it used to be just Sophie, her grandfather, her mother, and a bunch of close friends.
However, when she auditions for the lead role in her high school musical, she finds out that her father has returned. Without wanting to hear the words ‘Good Luck,’ she navigates the new things life throws at her while maintaining the relationships she cherishes.
Sunny Sandler has been part of her father’s movies in the past. Some of her credits include Grown Ups, Happy Gilmore 2, Sandy Wexler, Hotel Transylvania, Murder Mystery, and Spaceman.
The dramedy is helmed by Julia Hart, who also wrote the screenplay with Laura Hankin and Jordan Horowitz, from a story provided by Hankin. Hart has previously written and directed Stargirl, Hollywood Stargirl, I’m Your Woman, Fast Color, and Miss Stevens.
Besides Sunny, the cast includes Melanie Lynskey, Max Greenfield, Jack Champion, Stephanie Beatriz, Scarlett Estevez, Jon Lovitz, Emma McNulty, Elyse Bell, Bebe Neuwirth, and Steve Buscemi.
Adam Sandler, Jackie Sandler, Horowitz, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, and Fred Berger serve as producers. Meanwhile, executive producers include Sophia Lin, Judit Maull, Kevin Grady, Barry Weissler, and Michael Roiff.
Don’t Say Good Luck will premiere on Netflix on August 14, 2026.
