Marvel makes its triumphant return to San Diego Comic-Con for 2026 (SDCC 2026), and these three reveals could define the future of the MCU‘s Phase Seven.
All eyes will be on the Marvel Studios Hall H presentation on Saturday, July 25. For Marvel, the Hall H presentation has been a launch pad for some of the MCU’s biggest reveals. A few years ago, Robert Downey Jr. famously took off a Doctor Doom mask onstage, confirming he would be the villain of Avengers: Doomsday.
What surprises does Marvel have in store for fans? Here are three things that Marvel could potentially reveal that would define the MCU’s future.
3 Marvel SDCC 2026 reveals that could shape the MCU’s Phase Seven
1) VisionQuest Footage
While much of the attention for Marvel’s 2026 slate is devoted to Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Avengers: Doomsday, the MCU has another project debuting later this year. VisionQuest, a spin-off TV show of WandaVision, premieres on October 14, 2026.
Marvel has kept much of VisionQuest’s plot details under wraps. The show will mark the return of Paul Bettany as Vision and James Spader as Ultron. Vision will attempt to rediscover his memories in a mind-bending journey. VisionQuest will be the final entry in a trilogy that includes WandaVision and Agatha All Along.
While not as splashy as the two 2026 movies, VisionQuest could be a bridge between the MCU’s past and future. VisionQuest also comes out before Avengers: Doomsday, meaning it might be essential viewing.
2) Black Panther 3 release date
Ryan Coogler is currently on a heater. He’s fresh off the success of Sinners, which won him the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay. Coogler is now working on his reboot of The X-Files. Once he’s finished working, Coogler plans to return to Marvel and make Black Panther 3.
The two Black Panther movies are some of the most beloved MCU entries of the last 10 years. Closing out the Black Panther trilogy with a third movie is likely high on the list for Marvel in Phase Seven, especially if Coogler wants to do it. I don’t expect casting announcements for Black Panther 3, though Denzel Washington is reportedly involved. Dating Black Panther 3 feels like a real possibility for this presentation.
3) X-Men release date
Of all the upcoming projects for Phase Seven, the X-Men MCU movie has to be the most anticipated project. Marvel is entering the Mutant Era after Avengers: Secret Wars, making the X-Men a high priority for the MCU’s future.
In a perfect world, Kevin Feige would announce the actors playing X-Men characters like Professor X, Magneto, and Wolverine. Casting announcements feel like a 2027 Comic-Con reveal. However, announcing a date for the movie would be enough to get fans excited about the future.
