Adria Arjona addressed the ongoing Wonder Woman casting speculation during a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly. She did not confirm or deny the rumors but expressed her close bond with DC Studios heads James Gunn and Peter Safran.
“Funny that you asked me that. James gave me my first movie ever. The first movie I ever stepped on was a James Gunn and Peter Safran movie. So they are family. And I’m so happy to be a part of the DCU. I’m with family,” Arjona said.
Her comments come amid conflicting reports about her role in 2027’s Man of Tomorrow. The Hollywood Reporter previously noted that her part remained a mystery. Meanwhile, Deadline and Variety reported that she had landed the role of Maxima. Gunn previously shot down reports that Arjona had screen-tested for Maxima alongside Marisa Abela and Ella Purnell.
Additionally, Arjona’s boyfriend Jason Momoa recently fueled the speculation further. While speaking with ScreenRant, the actor was asked which DCU characters his Lobo should meet. He responded, “Wonder Woman would be just as great.” When the outlet expressed support for Arjona landing the Amazonian role, Momoa playfully replied twice, “She’s hot.”
Notably, Gunn has acknowledged his longtime friendship with Arjona. One year ago, while speaking with Extra, he said she would be a “great” Wonder Woman. However, he has not officially confirmed what character the Andor star is playing. The DCU’s Wonder Woman reboot currently remains in active development. Ana Nogueira is attached as the screenwriter for the project.
