Things seem to be going from bad to worse for Patchy Mix since his UFC exit.
Just last year, Mix signed to the UFC as a very exciting addition to the roster following the 19-1 run that he’d put together.
To say things didn’t go to plan for the former Bellator bantamweight champion would be putting it lightly.
Mix was cut following back-to-back UFC losses, but his difficult run inside the Octagon has only followed him to his new promotion, where he competes on August 11.
Patchy Mix dropped from co-main event spot due to weight miss for second RIZIN fight
Weight cuts have been brought up as something that has negatively impacted Patchy Mix in the past, but he’s only missed weight once before.
The 32-year-old was scheduled to compete on August 11 at RIZIN 54 in Tokyo, Japan.
At the weigh-ins on Monday, the former Bellator world champion didn’t come close to hitting the 61kg (134.48 pounds) limit for his matchup with Shoko Sato.
Mix stepped on the scales at 63.58kg, making him almost 6.3 pounds over the weight category for his second fight in the promotion.
As a result, his matchup will no longer be the co-main event on the card, with a different fight being pushed up the bill to take that spot.

Mix was knocked out by Kyoma Akimoto in his RIZIN debut back in March, which was the first time that he’s been stopped in his pro career.
Even in his last win, which came in 2024, fans debated the outcome after he didn’t look himself in a split decision victory over Magomed Magomedov.
Mix previously defeated the likes of Sergio Pettis, Kyoji Horiguchi, and Raufeon Stots during a Bellator run that put him on the map as one of the top fighters in his division.
It was said after his second consecutive UFC loss that Mix had battled a staph infection and illness in the build up to the fight, which he lost to Jakub Wiklacz by split decision.
