Lynyrd Skynyrd isn’t slowing down anytime soon.
The Southern rock legends just added 10 more shows to their tour schedule, including six additional dates later this year and four performances already scheduled for 2027.
The new dates come as the band prepares to wrap up its current summer run with Foreigner before moving into a series of headlining shows. The next leg begins in September and was originally scheduled to run through October, but Lynyrd Skynyrd has now added additional performances in November.
And that’s not where the newly expanded schedule ends.
Lynyrd Skynyrd Is Already Booking 2027
The band has added four international dates for July 2027, with shows scheduled in Austria and Germany.
The newly announced 2026 dates include stops in Salt Lake City, Colorado, California, Nevada, Washington, Oregon, Florida and Arizona. Some of those performances will be headlining shows, while others are part of festivals or include additional classic-rock acts.
Lynyrd Skynyrd will share stages with several familiar names along the way, including 38 Special, Loverboy, Foghat, Molly Hatchet, Ten Years After and 10cc.
The band’s current summer schedule, meanwhile, includes its Double Trouble Double Vision co-headlining run with Foreigner. That series continues through August before Skynyrd transitions into its headlining dates.
‘Free Bird’ Remains Part of the Show
Fans attending the newly added concerts can also expect one particular song to close out the night.
Lynyrd Skynyrd has made “Free Bird” a traditional finale, although that wasn’t always the case after the death of original frontman Ronnie Van Zant in the band’s 1977 plane crash.
Johnny Van Zant initially refused to sing the song when he joined the reunited version of Lynyrd Skynyrd in 1987. He reportedly felt that Ronnie was the only person who should sing it, so the band performed it as an instrumental while audiences filled in the lyrics themselves.
That eventually changed after guitarist Gary Rossington encouraged Johnny to take over the vocals, and he’s been singing it ever since.
The Band’s Tour Shows No Signs of Slowing Down
The latest additions are notable considering how long Lynyrd Skynyrd has already been on the road.
The current lineup has continued touring for decades following the band’s 1987 reunion, which was initially intended to be a short tour commemorating the 10th anniversary of the plane crash that killed Ronnie Van Zant, guitarist Steve Gaines and backup singer Cassie Gaines. The response to those shows ultimately led to the band’s continued run.
Nearly four decades later, Lynyrd Skynyrd is still filling concert calendars.
Now, fans have even more opportunities to see the band live, with the latest schedule extending from the rest of 2026 well into the summer of 2027.
