This man’s story of taking his McLaren Senna to a gas station to show how much it costs to fill up will prove it’s not for the faint of wallet.
The owner had just 10 miles of range left when he pulled into the gas station, so this was about as close to empty as you could get.
After filling the tank, he revealed exactly how much it cost and, more importantly, how far that money actually got him.
Let’s just say, if you’re thinking about buying a McLaren Senna, you might want to budget for more than the car itself.
The McLaren Senna had a gas bill that’s eye-watering
The McLaren Senna is a supercar that was never really built with fuel economy in mind.
This was a hypercar named after one of the greatest Formula 1 drivers of all time, and pretty much everything about it was focused on going incredibly fast.
Under the hood is a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 producing around 789 horsepower.
It can hit a top speed of 208 mph, making it kind of ridiculous when it comes to everyday grocery trips or gas station trips.
It also comes with a price tag to match.
When new, the Senna can cost somewhere around $1 million to $1.2 million, depending on the specification.
These days, examples can cost even more, which makes the cost of filling one up seem like a relatively minor concern, but that didn’t stop this TikToker from finding out exactly how much it cost.
In a video, content creator Tomi Auto took the Senna to a gas station with just 10 miles of estimated range remaining, he then filled it up and revealed the damage.
The tank took 51 liters of fuel, which came to £78.44, or around $107.
That’s certainly not pocket change for a trip to the gas station, but the really painful part came when he checked how much range he’d gained.
How many miles he got out of the tank
After filling the tank, the Senna showed an estimated 130 miles of range.
Around $107 worth of fuel had bought Tomi approximately 130 miles of driving.
Tomi appeared almost disappointed by the result as he checked the figure, explaining that he had hoped the estimated range would improve after filling up, instead, it remained stubbornly low.
“A full tank in a McLaren Senna gets you 130 miles of range,” he said in the video.
That might sound ridiculous for a road car, but the Senna was never supposed to be a practical commuter, or handle everyday driving conditions.
The entire car was designed around performance, with extensive use of carbon fiber helping keep its weight down and huge amounts of aerodynamic technology helping keep it glued to the road.
The result was a machine that could deliver supercar performance at the expense of pretty much everything else, including fuel economy.

And considering the Senna’s seven-figure price tag, its $107 fill-up was probably the least expensive part of ownership.
Still, knowing that a full tank could disappear after around 130 miles would make a gas station visit feel a little more painful.
The Senna might have been able to reach 208 mph, but at those fuel costs, you might want to make sure you know exactly where the next gas station is before flooring it.
