VisionQuest could mark a major turning point for MCU’s Disney+ television shows. A recent report suggests that Marvel could pull the plug on new television series for now, looking to focus on new directions for the franchise’s future.
According to Collider, Marvel Studios will scale back its live-action Disney+ television shows after the release of VisionQuest. Previous reports had hinted that the studio might be developing more MCU television shows, but the execs appear to have changed their minds. VisionQuest premieres on October 14.
Brad Winderbaum, the Head of Marvel Studios Streaming and Animation divisions, continues to be a major presence behind the scenes. He was recently promoted to take further responsibility over comics and franchise development, marking a new phase for the production giant.
What other MCU shows could still happen after VisionQuest?
Fans can rest assured that Marvel will still release the already planned television shows after the release of VisionQuest. For instance, the upcoming third season of Daredevil: Born Again, which has wrapped filming, is still happening. The series is expected to return on Disney+ in March 2027. This also includes any potential miniseries developing under the banner of “Marvel Presents” and “Marvel Spotlight.”
Marvel is now focusing largely on its theatrical releases. With Spider-Man: Brand New Day continuing to soar at the box office, the studio is gearing up to release the upcoming Avengers installments. Doomsday and Secret Wars promise an epic comeback of the MCU superheroes featuring an ensemble cast unlike anything audiences have seen before.
Meanwhile, an X-Men reboot is also in the works following Sadie Sink’s Jean Grey debut in Spider-Man 4. Rumors of the other members’ cast have also taken the fandom by storm. Marvel has reportedly picked Kit Connor to play Scott Summers, aka Cyclops, in the reboot. Another reported casting includes Samara Weaving as Emma Frost (via Deadline). Needless to say, more exciting announcements are on the horizon for MCU fans.
