Eugene the Marine

Deadline reports Cineverse has acquired Eugene the Marine, a “super 16mm-shot genre hybrid” described as “part psychological thriller, part giallo mystery, and part Hallmark movie.“ Starring Scott Glenn, Jim Gaffigan, Annette O’Toole, and Shioli Kutsuna, the story concerns “a proud former Marine living a highly regimented life. He is on the verge of being kicked out of his home by his hostile son (Jeremy Bobb) when he begins opening up to unlikely new friends while a mysterious serial killer is murdering them one by one.“


Mommy’s Home

According to a new report from TheInsneider (via Dread Central), David F. Sandberg (Shazam!, Lights Out) is attached to direct Mommy’s Home at Lionsgate, a “psychological horror film” about cryogenics. Written by James Morosini, the synopsis on IMDB reads: “When a 24-year-old woman is unfrozen decades later, her son, now a father himself, faces a terrifyingly unhinged family life.”


Godmother

Jacksepticeye and Alanah Pearce have released a poster for their upcoming horror movie, Godmother, starring Dee Wallace, Bruce Davison, Paige Evans, Cameron Cuffe, and Riley Dandy. Directed by John Veron, the story concerns “a young woman named Theo in her late 20s (Evans) who heads into the desert for a romantic weekend with her tech bro boyfriend (Cuffe) as well as her tagalong sister (Dandy). But when they arrive at their vacation rental, they’re greeted by a couple (Wallace & Davison) who seems far too eager to meet Theo. The resulting horror movie promises to have bloody betrayals, home-made torture chambers and frenzied elderly people as it tells the story of one woman fighting to define herself in a world that has seemed as though it’s decided her future for her.” Head over to The Wrap for more images.

Star Trek

Speaking with Deadline, Jane Wiseman, the head of EVP & Head of Originals for Paramount+, stated the company is now “talking to a lot of writers” as they figure out “the next bounce” of the Star Trek franchise.

It is our goal and it is our job to figure out what the next bounce of Star Trek is. We’re talking to a lot of writers, we are leaning on CBS Studios, and it is imperative that we figure out what the next iteration is in this franchise because it’s just too important. We also are in touch with Paramount Pictures, they have a Star Trek movie that’s in development.

Coven Academy

Disney+ has released a teaser for its new series, Coven Academy, following “three teenage witches and their charming warlock peers as they face deadly secrets, dangerous power and forbidden love while ancient forces threaten their city.”


Universal Monster Tots

Finally, Universal has covertly released two episodes of Monster Tots, a Cocomelon-inspired animated series for very young children reimagining its roster of beloved monsters characters precocious toddlers living in a treehouse. Notably, the show’s character designs come from legendary VFX artist “Crash” McCreery.
