Monterey Car Week has come and gone for another year, and these were the most expensive cars that were sold at Monterey 2026, with Ferraris, McLarens, and Chevrolets among the big sellers.
RM Sotheby’s Monterey auction brings in the big figures, and this year was no different.
Eight figure sums were pulled in across the board, understandably generating a lot of buzz in the press.
But the question is – which car came out on top in the sales figures?
Monterey 2026 has been a haven of car greatness
Somehow, Monterey Car Week finds a way to upstage the previous year.
This year, we’ve seen a whole array of awesome cars getting their moment to shine on Pebble Beach.
Whether it’s the Gordon Murray S1 or this 1-of-150 Aston Martin Valen, there’s been tons for car enthusiasts to feast their eyes on.
But alongside the debuts and unveilings, there’s been some auctioning, as cars have gone up for sale.
And in a festival filled with auto fans with cash to spend, you can be assured that a lot of money was dispensed.
These are the most expensive cars that went up for sale at Monterey 2026.
The most expensive car sold at Monterey 2026: 2023 Ferrari Luce EV – $40 million
At the top of the list is the first-ever Ferrari Luce EV, purchased for 36 times more than the usual price of the EV.
Sotheby’s has said that all the proceeds from the sale will be donated to the Ferrari Foundation’s educational programmes.
Dr. Herbert ‘Herbie’ Wertheim, an inventor and billionaire businessman, is the manwho walked away with the keys for the Luce.
1996 McLaren GTR Chassis 10R – $34 million
This car has set two records in one go – being both the priciest McLaren and the priciest British-built car to ever be sold at public auction.
Decked out in ‘Pop Art’ colors, this McLaren was once owned by Nick Mason, the drummer from Pink Floyd.
Mason has quite the track record with epic cars, from his Ferrari 250 GTO to his ultra-rare Ferrari Enzo.
1963 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport – $18 million
Speaking of records being set, the third place entry also set a record as the most expensive Corvette ever auctioned.
Only five were ever built, with the Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum declaring it ‘one of the most important Corvettes in existence’.
2023 Ferrari Daytona SP3 – $17 million
This sale marked a major milestone for a standard-production Daytona SP3, as its sale made it the most expensive non-charity Ferrari ever sold at auction.
In the case of this particular SP3, it was basically brand new with only 227 miles on the clock.
And this wouldn’t be the last Ferrari to make it into the upper echelons of Monterey 2026 sales.
1995 Ferrari F50 – $12 million
It was a real Ferrari domination this year, with the F50 sitting comfortably in the fifth place spot.
One of only 55 specified for the US market, this F50 was originally owned by none other than Mike Tyson.
With only 6,196 miles on the clock, it’s in fine shape to this day.
1985 Ferrari 288 GTO – $11 million
This GTO spent more than two decades in storage with a prominent German collection, with only 958 miles on the clock.
It’d undergone a ‘comprehensive mechanical overhaul’ by Ferrari of Central Florida, and currently stands as one of only six sub-1,000 mile 288 GTOs left.
