When this dad sent his son a photo of a Porsche, it didn’t take long for his son to spot a jaw-dropping detail.
It’s something that many of us will have done at one point or another.
If we see a cool car on the street, our natural instinct will often be to whip out our phones and snap a picture.
But there was something about this Porsche parked in Munich that made it exceptionally interesting.
Plenty of interesting cars line the streets of cities around the world
In virtually every city on the planet, you’ll spot a couple of truly remarkable cars if you know what to look out for.
There’s the famous pink McLaren which was parked upside a swanky London hotel for years.
Over in Dubai, one of the world’s rarest cars left one hypercar spotter stunned.
And in Tokyo, there was this ultra-rare Mercedes G-Class x Moncler collaboration that was bound to turn heads.
It’s worth paying attention while you walk down the street – you never know what car you’ll see.
So with that in mind, it’s a good thing this dad was observant enough to notice a very special Porsche parked on the street during his visit to Munich.
This son recognized the Porsche almost instantly
Snapping a picture of the Porsche, this dad sent it over to his son.
To the layman, this would appear to be a yellow Porsche – but as this son was a huge Porsche fan, he knew it straight away.

Taking to Reddit, he shared what his dad has photographed – a yellow 911 known as the ‘Widowmaker’.
That’s a pretty threatening name, and it’s no wonder – this car had notoriously tricky handling, cementing its place in the history of Formula One.
Produced between 1975 and 1989, this Porsche 911 had a real Formula One powerplant sitting beneath the hood.
Turns out, the Redditors’ dad had spoken to the owner and gotten a sneak peek for himself.
It was a TAG-Porsche 1.5-liter twin-turbo V6 engine – the very same unit that pushed Alain Prost to third place in the 1986 Spanish GP race.

Capable of 1,000 horsepower at the height of its power, the Porsche 911 was now significantly toned down for road use.
The fact that this piece of motorsports history is casually driving around the streets of a German city is nothing short of remarkable.
We can only imagine how much the son wishes he was there with his dad for this awesome moment.
A history of Porsches in Formula One
1957 – 1960: The RS550 and 718 RSK sports cars make their debuts at early F1 races.
1961: The 718 earned several podium finishes, including third place at the Constructors’ Championship.
1983 – 1987: The TAG-Porsche powerplant dominates during this period, securing 25 Grand Prix wins, two Constructors’ Championships, and three Drivers’ Championships.
1991: Porsche returns to F1 as an engine supplier, allowing the Footwork Arrows to use the new Porsche 3512. However, Footwork terminated the contract mid-season. To date, this is the brand’s last participation in F1 as an engine supplier.
